iYogi Reviews Internet Explorer on Xbox 360 dashboard

05 Nov

Microsoft has officially released its latest Dashboard update for the Xbox 360 console that includes a prominent blue icon with an ‘e’ stamped on it. You are right; the Xbox 360 has finally got Internet Explorer. Though it’s a bit late, but still it’s better late than never. The competitors of Xbox 360 i.e. Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 already had built-in web browsers.

While reviewing the web browser on Xbox 360, the iYogi Reviews team experienced that though the web browser does not function as good as browsers on laptop, tablet, or smartphone, but it enables you to view content on the web on your TV. Besides, with this update you can personalize your dashboard by pinning your favorite web sites and watch HTML5 videos on the web. Once the Windows 8 operating system is officially launched on October 26, users will also be able to use Windows 8’s Xbox Smart Glass on web features like text input, scrolling, and pinch and zoom. Available to those users who have subscribed to the Xbox Live Gold subscription, Internet Explorer on Xbox 360 offers a fully-fledged browser with full support for HTML5 content including video playback. The Xbox Live Gold membership costs roughly US$ 50 per annum.

The update also brings some minor changes to the user interface of Xbox 360. The tweaks include renaming of the Zune Video Marketplace to Xbox Video – to make it compatible with the new Xbox Music service – and some additional tiles for rapid access to common features, a combined TV and Movies channel, and a new Sports channel. The Sports channel will be currently available exclusively to US customers only.

The final conclusion of the iYogi Reviews team was that as far as a web browser on game system is concerned, it’s probably the best browser. Stay informed with the features of such wonderful and latest developments in the world of technology by reading iYogi Reviews.
