iYogi Reviews: Samsung Gear S – A smartest watch for Gen Next

Samsung-Gear-S Is it possible to receive and make calls from your watch? It definitely is. The newly launched Samsung Gear S from the electronic giant Samsung has made this possible. Samsung has created a smart watch that allows you to receive and make calls from your wrist, without the use of phone. Though it still needs the latest Samsung phone to function, yet it can be termed as purely revolutionary and stylish!

As reviewed by iYogi, the new Samsung Gear S has been curved with elegance. It is designed with AMOLED display that provides the user with a comfortable fit. To meet your style expressions, you could easily change the Samsung Gear S’ straps; white, red, blue and black are the colors available for the straps at present. This smart watch has many screen clock faces which can be customized as per your interest.

The Samsung Gear S is a seamless advanced communicator with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G facilities. But it still needs the latest Samsung smart phone for activating the services and loading of applications. Communicating through a watch may mean draining the battery a lot. However, the best thing about this Samsung product is that it has a decent battery life which doesn’t drain easily. The watch comes with a cradle that acts as a portable charger.

The Samsung Gear S has navigation facilities installed, which helps the user to get to their destinations with ease. Enhanced S Voice application can be used for completing tasks hands free. It also is your fitness and health companion that has built in GPS, multi-sensors and robust S Health features that let you keep check on your fitness schedule. The watch also is equipped with Nike+ Running application that allows you to keep a track on your fitness regimen.

And now, here are a few quick technical specifications of this wearable gadget:

  • It is set with 512MB RAM
  • 4GB internal storage memory
  • Dual core 1.0GHz chipset
  • Accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, UV, barometer and ambient light
  • And over and above an affordable price!

iYogi Reviews: Lenovo Y40 – The Budget Friendly Gaming Laptop!

lenovoy40

Are you planning to buy a new laptop that delivers the optimum performance while playing games? Is your restrained budget making it more difficult to find a machine that performs brilliantly, has some style and is priced decently? Your search for the affordable laptop that comes inclusive with performance and style ends here at Lenovo Y40.

Lenovo has recently come up with a similar option Lenovo Y40 that falls under the category of its high-performance Y series of gaming laptops. This option by Lenovo sounds perfect for the ones who have been looking for a fairly capable and a well-made machine at a very decent price. The Y40 boasts several brilliant features that are inherited from its previous releases – 15.6 inch Lenovo Y50, and 17-inch Y70 of Y series.

iYogi reviews the latest Y Series gaming laptop Lenovo Y40 and ensures that it is worth every penny  as it comes with sharp design, fantastic battery life and JBL audio. Check out the review by iYogi to find out more about the product in detail:

Design

The look of Y40 gaming laptop from Lenovo is very much similar to that of Y50, which carries pretty modest design. Its crosshatch texture looks deluxe. It lets you lift its lid in a very pleasing manner and can be done with one finger while the laptop itself rests on the desk or on your lap.

After opening the laptop, you are provided with a brushed metal palm rest area, which is surely different from the rubber glazed palm rest area in the Y50. Not only this, Y40 surely tops the chart when it comes to its design as its keyboard deck also earns good points in styling, which comes with a uniform sheet of metal that holds each key of the AccuType keyboard with full grip.  There is no doubt that Y40 wins our hearts with good looks and brilliant style.

Display

The Lenovo’s latest gaming laptop Y40 comes embedded with 1080p screen. The best thing about it is that it is secure and does not shake too much when you pick up the laptop or set it down on the desk. The screen comes surrounded with a thick glossy border that holds a 720p webcam and light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness, which is dependent upon the availability of light in the room.  Y40 is gifted with supreme display as it has a resolution of 1920×1080.

Processor and Battery

For a good gaming laptop – one thing that matters a lot is its processor and Y40 has arrived with an Intel Core i7-4500U 8GB of DDR3/1600 memory, an AMD Radeon R9 M275 GPU with a 2GB frame buffer, and a 256GB SSD.    And the second thing that matters to be a good gaming laptop is the battery runtime. You would not enjoy playing games on your laptop if its battery is drained out in only 2 hours or 3 hours. This is why to make you fall in love with Y40, the battery included by Lenovo gives the approx. runtime of 5 hours and 14 minutes – it is calculated on the basis of everyday computing chores, not gaming as you will have to be plugged into an AC while playing games.

The 14-inch gaming laptop Y40 has been built very smartly by Lenovo and has also priced it right. The Y40, which starts at $699 (about £426, AU$790) has been designed with an aim to not let your gaming experience down.  So, if you have been planning to buy one gaming laptop, then why not Y40.

iYogi Review : Samsung Rocks The Market With Its Wallet-Friendly Galaxy Avant!

Samsung-Avant-Spin

The all new Samsung Galaxy Avant is a fantastic SmartPhone, which offers a leathery comfortable hold due to the lightly textured naugahyde on the handset this round-cornered Galaxy Avant has a low-resolution 4.5-inch screen and a 5-megapixel camera. Android 4.4 along with 1.2 GHz quad-core processor is what keeps it current.
This 5.2 inches tall by 2.6 inches wide handset weighs around 4.8 ounces and sticking to the old Samsung script, has a power/lock button on right, volume rocker on left, headset jack on top and a micro-USB charging port down below. Right above the display is a 0.3-megapixel camera and a home button right below the screen with capacitive buttons on either side. You’ll find a 5-megapixel camera lens with a flash on flipping the phone over and beneath the back cover is a microSD card slot, which is expandable up to 64 GB.
The credit to its strong credentials goes over to its strong software feature, flaunting Android 4.4.2 Kitkat version and a Touchwhiz layer on top that will provide you an experience of higher-end Samsung phone. This brings some stability to its overall performance.
Its easy-to-use interface has several options to customize the phone’s look and feel. In terms of pre-loaded apps, you’ll find a lot of them in Google services. There are few additional installations too like Amazon, Dropbox, and Lookout security that will let Samsung keeps its own apps limited.
However, its camera does not get included in its superb high-end features. Subjects usually appear to be out-of-focus and grainy, without clearly defined edges. Flash comes on too strong often to impart real-life feature to the images. But yes, the outdoor photos look much better in comparison to the ones taken indoors. The 720p HD video capture also suffers from lack of clarity and its inability to reproduce vivacious colors. While gaming, it doesn’t suffer much lag though. You can move swiftly or play the game seamlessly without getting distracted by speed or visual quality.
It can hold up to 16 GB of internal storage and up to 64 GB through an expandable SD card. You also get a 1.5 GB RAM to supply yourself. Apart from this, its 2,100mAh battery gives 15.2 days standby and up to 8 hours of video playback.
Priced around $200, this Smartphone performs above-average for its own class and has the excellent call quality. If you need a phone without pondering over its price, then go for it without go for it without giving it a second thought.
